Anthony Pessler is an artist, working primarily in painting and drawing. He joined the faculty of ASU's School of Art in 1994. A self-described Contemporary Romantic, Pessler's creative research occupies a space at the intersection of spiritual practice and human/animal relationships. Influences ranging from classic Disney animation to Orthodox iconography result in delicately painted images that evoke the mystery and fragility of wild places and things. Pessler has special expertise in contemporary and historic painting materials and methodologies. His work has been exhibited and collected widely throughout the United States and abroad.
